You probably know that there are a number of things you can do to protect your teeth. Similarly, you know that brushing and flossing are vital to your oral health. However, do you know how to determine the type of floss that’s best for your teeth?
If you have large gaps in your teeth, you should consider dental tape or super floss. Conversely, if there isn’t much space between your teeth, waxed floss may be the option you need. If you struggle with traditional string floss, you could consider disposable floss picks. Patients who have braces could also find spongy floss a good option.
However, after you choose your floss, you’ll still have to use it well in order to protect your pearly whites. Please remember that you should floss every day. You’ll also need to use a clean piece of floss for each tooth. While this may seem obvious, if you don’t use a long enough piece of floss, it will get dirty and spread bacteria between your teeth. To avoid this problem, you’ll probably need at least a foot and a half of floss. You should also curve your floss into a c-shape and glide it up and down each side of your tooth. Finally, if you floss first, please remember to brush well afterwards. If you brush your teeth first, please rinse your mouth after you floss.
